not-so Nanoflash Nightmare

We have found that the Convergent Design nanoflash we were having problems with had an error with it when it left the factory in California. we called CD and they said the error messages we were getting during record and the missing files on the cards during transfers were their fault! (Mmmm pay for a re shoot please!)

So that unit went back to the States and we have a new one. I was told in the beginning that is was the climbing that caused the lost footage, but the climbing footage was not lost at all, and some of the lost rushes was viewed in the hotel by our exec producers so that was obviously not the issue. so it was not the climbing that caused the problem.

I was climbing super carefully with the camera in the beginning (as I am still kind of doing) because it is a bodged mechano built camera with the nanoflash bolted to the top, the hawkwood battery adaptor hanging off the back and the directors monitor transmitter gaffered to the other side of the EX3, with a delicate bnc cable coming out of the HD-SDI at the back of the EX3 for the nanoflash and all the audio cables for the radio mics hanging all over the place, with the radio mics themselves perched on the front hotshoe Honestly it looks like a freakin disaster potential but it is holding up really well and we are getting some amazing footage back, everyone watching the edit is calling me with good reports.

I am looking at watching the first pre screening in a week or so.

I will get a trailer up on my site as soon as it is available.
