‘Climbing Great Buildings’ starts next Monday at 6.30 BBC2.
The series starts with Durham Cathedral and moves onto Lincoln Cathedral then Caernarfon Castle the next two nights. it then continues every week night for the next 3 weeks. ending with Manchester’s Imperial War Museum on the last night which we still have yet to film. that is this weeks mission.

I have really enjoyed this fascinating series, especially the one where Jonathan and Lucy climb the towers and chains of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, which is my home city and where I still live. I have crossed the bridge and passed under it scores of times but it was great to see the view from a different perspective. I am wondering if this series will be brought out by the BBC on DVD in the future. If so, I will be one of the first to buy it. Any information about the series or the release of it on DVD will be most welcome. Thanks for any information I can be informed about. Best Wishes Pauline Mitchell

Hi Guys. Thank you for such lovely comments. I am very pleased the series has gone down so well. I had an amazing summer this year filming it, and would love to do it again.
As for the DVD, at the minute I think the answer will be no! but I am not sure, BBC 4 has bought it so it will be repeated fairly soon (keep a look out)
Maybe this is a good opportunity to write to the BBC to ask them to bring it out on DVD.
I think Bristol was also my favourite as well.
Thanks again
Ian

I agree with all the comments. One the best series in a long while. The combination of well narrated, close up architecture with amazing rope climbing was so engaging, educative and enjoyable. Ian, so many people have ackowledged the skill of the cameraman, with a camera to carry and use whilst getting out on the ropes! A DVD would be fantastic – it would be a great 2010 Christmas present….please lobby!

Thank you Tessa, it’s good to hear its still interesting folks, and I am very please that my work is being acknowledged and appreciated. I too agree that a DVD would be good, I have forwarded a message to the bbc about it so it is up to them to decide. I will keep on lobbying

Hi Ian great series loved all of them, so true all the comments about the skill of the camera man. I was at Jonathan’s talk last Thursday in Lincoln Minster and enjoyed it immensely, I know you got stuck in traffic and arrived later. I also agree about a dvd and would definitely buy it so hopefully the BBC will do the honours for us. I am waiting for the series to be repeated on BBC4 at the moment. But in the mean time keep up the good work and all the best, Carol Smart
