I’ve been filming a new film for independent production company Image Impossible -

Presented by Marmot and Rokt Climbing Gym

A voyage of discovery on Ireland’s wild coast, with Ricky Bell and friends.

The Journey starts with Ricky climbing ‘The Rathlin Effect’ a new route he has been working for a year, on the imposing Fairhead, a massive sea cliff looking north out towards Scotland.

I’ve just picked up this months (July 2011) copy of Climber magazine and found a photo of mine occupying a full page in the Masterclass feature on Page 54.

Steve went back on his Malham project yesterday, but due to other commitments I was unable to make it up for another filming session.

De said he was doubtful he would send the route yesterday anyway, so I will get up with him the next time.

As a brief history of the route, Malham is home to One of Steve’s hardest routes ‘Overshadow” graded at a world class 9a+, this route is harder still he said but he is still reluctant to say whether or not it weighs in at 9b

Here’s hoping he sends it soon, and that is is a progression from overshadow

Not a usual combination but an interesting one all the same.

My fortnight started with a trip to North Wales with my sponsors Marmot, to shoot a film with their European athletes on the slate and limestone.

I then headed to Northern Ireland to film another Marmot athlete on Fearhead, a huge sea cliff overlooking Scotland’s southern Hebrides.

then, I was immediately (well, after a long drive and ferry ride) filming 3D and lecturing in 3D craft skills in Basingstoke for the rest of this week. all went well, and I filmed some beautiful sets with Poker and then some macro 3D with a Bosnia tree.

on my way home last night, I passed a newly on-fire articulated lorry on the hard shoulder, as I passed the fuel tanks blew up and filled the whole 6 lanes of the motorway with thick fumes.

all the traffic made it safely past but the lorry was no more. this made the rest of my journey a little more intense

back home and the work continues, i’m planning my charity film with Kevin McCloud and Jonathan Foyle for the Heritage Skills Initiative.

I have been asked to DoP a feature Doc in Columbia for cinema, we’ll see what happens there.

Marmot Rocks North Wales 2011

I’m off to North wales with my Image Impossible hat on to film the annual get together of the european athletes from the global outdoor brand.

Im filming the climbing action in the slate quarries near Llanberis, Tremadog and the sea cliffs of Gogarth.

The footage will the cut in to a web viral then a film coming out later in the year.

Adam Ondra comments on Steve McClure’s routes and Malham Cove

I’ve been filming World Class climber Steve McClure climb a new line on Malham Cove over the past few weeks. A recent trip from another world class climber confirmed that Steve’s routes are very, very hard.

Filming Steve on his Malham project today and someone famous turned up. its Adam Ondra. Givus your autograph Adam.

Ondra on Overshadow – ‘It doesn’t quite reach the 9b line, but it’s pretty stiff for a 9a+’

‘I thought I would send it much quicker’

‘I may return to put up something really hard on Malham, there is potential for some new harder lines’

This weekend in Trento Italy, The Asgard Project picked up it’s Twentieth international award. Amazing to say as it’s getting old news now, being a 2009 film, but it still seems to be stirring the jury’s imagination. Hurrah!

The Charity event with Jonathan Foyle (Climbing Great Buildings, Time Team) and Kevin McCloud (Grand Designs) is taking place at the Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge on the 11th June 2011.

Take the Plunge will raise funds for the North East Civic Trust scheme the Heritage Skills Initiative.
